If you spend any time in the presences of Ayyo Buda you will quickly learn what inspires him and the unique story behind one of the hottest new rising artists to come out of 2021. Originally from Pittfield MA the artist who is of Puerto Rican and African American ancestry was raised in a place known more for magical experiences, theme parks and family vacations than hip hop. But, in the heart of Orlando, Florida a real vibrant music scene has emerged with powerful storytelling of a different kind.
Filled with grit, heart and the harsh experiences of the “dark side of Disney” — the music flowing out of the communities of Pine Hills and West Orlando brings a new fresh flavor to the hip hop scene that is reminiscent of Atlanta’s So So Def era and the west coast’s Death Row from days gone by. While some well-known music artists from the area like DJ Nasty and DJ Khalid had roots in the garages of central Florida homes far away from the door steps of Walt Disney World and Universal Studios – Orlando has never been identified has a burgeoning oasis for artist. But, the tropical heat, sunshine and ocean air is breading more than talent who are able to done costumes in local theme parks. Musicians, DJs, singers, poets and rappers in great numbers are slowly breaking their way on the musical stage with fresh new spins.
Leading the charge, representing Orlando is Ayyo Buda. With many artists electing to claim home town status elsewhere…Buda is, Orlando raised, Orlando tried and tested – he is the real deal. The tattoos on the rappers right arm tell the story. Sporting ink of the iconic Mickey Mouse character surrounded by a phrase that says…. (Ain’t no Disney Bihh)
